Editorial Policy
BusinessTools.Online publishes calculators and document generators that people use to make real financial and legal decisions. That's YMYL ("Your Money or Your Life") territory, and we take accuracy seriously. This page explains where our formulas and templates come from, how often they're reviewed, and what to do if you spot an error.
Sources we use
- Tax calculators — IRS publications and forms (US), HMRC rate tables (UK), Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) bulletins, and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) rate schedules.
- Loan and financial calculators — Standard published formulas: amortization schedule, monthly loan payments, simple/compound interest, and DCF. No proprietary or "adjusted" curves.
- Payroll and HR — US pay-stub components follow federal, state, and FICA labelling; UK/AU/CA payslips follow the layout expected by the respective revenue authorities.
- Legal templates — Drafted from general common-law contract conventions used in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand. Templates are a starting point, not a substitute for review by an attorney licensed in your jurisdiction.
How often we review
Every tool page carries a visible "Calculation methodology reviewed" date. We aim to re-check tax-sensitive tools at least once per tax year (April for US/UK, July for AU) and structural calculators (amortization, margin, break-even) whenever a reader flags a discrepancy or at least every 18 months.
Corrections
If you spot a formula that looks wrong, an outdated tax rate, or a template clause that doesn't fit your jurisdiction, email info@businestools.online. Confirmed corrections are shipped as soon as they're verified and the review date on the affected tool is updated. Substantive corrections (a formula change, not a typo) are noted in the tool's page history.
What we don't do
- We don't take payment for placement or preference in tool listings.
- We don't insert affiliate links inside calculator outputs or generated documents.
- We don't publish AI-generated content that hasn't been human-reviewed.
Who reviews
Reviews are performed by the BusinessTools.Online editorial team led by Mudit Agarwal. For complex jurisdiction-specific tax and legal questions, we consult publicly available guidance from the relevant revenue authority — we don't invent rates or clauses.
