How to choose a barcode format
A barcode is a machine-readable encoding of data you already have. Choosing the right symbology is mostly a question of who scans it: retail point of sale needs UPC-A or EAN-13, warehouse and asset labelling is best served by Code 128, cartons use ITF-14, and supply-chain data with batch and expiry belongs in GS1-128 or GS1 DataMatrix.
Every generator here validates your input against the published rules of the standard, calculates check digits where the standard defines one, and preserves the required quiet zone in the exported file. Encoding happens in your browser, so nothing you type leaves your device.
