Encoding happens entirely in your browser. This tool encodes numbers you already own — it does not issue or register GS1 company prefixes.

A business barcode workspace

Generate, validate, bulk-import and print barcodes using real standards — not a directory of near-identical pages.

Every barcode format

Each format has its own page with the exact data rules, check-digit behaviour, quiet-zone guidance and a live generator.

Frequently asked questions

Is this barcode generator really free?

Yes. Every symbology, the bulk CSV generator and the label sheet printer are free with no signup and no watermark. Barcodes are encoded in your browser, so nothing you type is uploaded to a server.

Which barcode format should I use?

Use UPC-A for retail products in the US and Canada, EAN-13 for retail in Europe, Asia and Australia, Code 128 for internal asset or inventory labels, ITF-14 for shipping cartons, GS1-128 or GS1 DataMatrix when you need Application Identifiers such as batch or expiry, and QR-style 2D codes such as Data Matrix or PDF417 when you need to encode more data in a small area.

Does this issue or register barcode numbers?

No. This tool encodes numbers you already own into a scannable symbol and validates them against the standard. Retail GTINs must be licensed from GS1 — no online tool can legitimately assign you a company prefix.

Will the downloaded barcode scan correctly when printed?

Download the SVG for print. SVG is vector, so it stays sharp at any size and preserves the quiet zone and bar widths defined by the standard. Print at 100% scale with no page scaling, and avoid resizing a PNG upward.

Can I generate hundreds of barcodes at once?

Yes. The bulk CSV generator accepts a pasted or uploaded list, validates every row against the chosen standard, and returns all symbols as a ZIP of SVG or PNG files.
